I am currently expecting my second (and last child). I really want to get back into shape once the baby is born, so my husband and I are seriously considering purchasing a Boxflex home gym (he wants to use it as well). We already have purchased a good quality elliptical machine, so we want something that will work on muscle tone and definition. Plus, I hate free weights. Has anyone had good results with it? Does it only take 20 minutes a day, 3 times …

All I want to do is get in shape, like what I see in the mirror better. But I think I can get a more comprehensive workout with a Bowflex. Also, doesn’t a home gym promote proper form and stuff? Be honest, should I just buy some free weights and a bench?

I used to have free weights but they are too bulky and I was never able to push the limits because I never had anyone to spot me. I know you cant get the same work out from a machine as you can from free weights but it is the same principal; instead of gravity and a weight providing resistance a machine can simulate the same kind of resistance. My question is what is the best home gym? I have a budget of roughly 0.00 and the two gyms …

I’ve been looking online for a while now for upper body workout home gym systems for my basement. I NEED one with a bench press that inclines.
So far, I have found a few "ideal" workout systems, but I cannot buy them in Canada (at least to my knowledge). The Weider C720/C650 strength systems are perfect for my needs, however I cannot find them in Canada.
I am looking for something with various workouts that would be very similar to those above that must include the following:
-Bench Press *incline and flat -> …

I’m hoping you can help resolve a disagreement I’ve been having with some people at the gym. Because of work pressures I plan to cancel my gym membership and buy a bodyweight type home gym like the Total Gym (www.totalgym.com) or Bodyrail (www.bodyrail.co.uk). The guys at the gym think I’m mad for doing this because they claim these bodyweight type gyms are gimmicks. They think that anything other than iron plates is a gimmick. Why can’t you use your own bodyweight instead of lumps of iron? Will your body know …

I am interested in the BodySolid EXM3000LPS and BodyCraft K1 home gyms and I’m looking for first-hand accounts (not links to sites, unless they are reviews) from people who use these gyms and what they like and dislike about them. Some questions:
Does the machine give a full-body workout or do certain muscle groups feel neglected? If so, which ones?
Are there a good variety of exercises or is it fairly limited?
How difficult was the gym to put together? How easy is it to operate?
Do you feel that the gym has enough …

I was thinking of putting a bench and free weights in my garage. Perhaps some hand holds in the rafters. I’ll seek some expert guidance this spring.
Can you give me advice on how to setup a home gym for rock climbing?
Are there good exercises specific to rock climbing?
