I used to have free weights but they are too bulky and I was never able to push the limits because I never had anyone to spot me. I know you cant get the same work out from a machine as you can from free weights but it is the same principal; instead of gravity and a weight providing resistance a machine can simulate the same kind of resistance. I’m looking to get a new home gym system, or some sort of excercise equipment; I do not have a lot of money to spend, and I do not have many large places to put something, and I cannot buy a new free-weight system, as it crowds areas rather quickly. What types of systems should I look at? Resistance? Is there a horizontal type of system that I could look for, or are the better ones vertical types? I just need some general help in this. The area is 6×8 ft. I liked one from Sears but it said it had like 325 lbs of resistance or something like that but I read a review that said it only has like 175 lbs. of resistance, are there more weights you can buy? I want 250 lbs. of resistance or more and I would like to spend under ,000.
